OutGOING Permits

Interdistrict Permits - Resident interdistrict permits allow students from Torrance to apply to attend other school districts.

 

Interdistrict permits are approved on a case-by-case basis and are subject to availability/approval by the school requested.  Once permits are granted, they are valid through 12th grade as long as the student stays in good standing. Permits are not required to be renewed by the home district annually.  Permits are subject to annual review by the Torrance school site principal and are not guaranteed to be renewed. Torrance Unified School District decision to release your student’s to another school district will be will contingent on demonstration of proofs of residency and photo identification provided by the parent or guardian. Students must have, and maintain, satisfactory attendance, effort, academic achievement and behavior. Torrance Unified School District will complete Interdistrict Permit Requests for the 2016/17 school year between March 1, 2016 and May 1st, 2016 (official date varies each school year). 

Steps to obtain an OUtgoing PERMIT:

 

1. Parent/Guardian must complete the Permit Release Application form.

 

2. Submit two proofs of residency, and the child's most recent report card along with the Permit Release Application form to the Family Welcome Enrollment Center, 2336 Plaza del Amo, Torrance, CA 90509.

â–ºProofs of residency need to be dated witing the last 60 days. Disconnection notices will not be accepted. 

â–ºReport cards or transcripts will be required for grades 1-12. Requests for birth certificates may also be made by our office. 

â–ºPermits will be completed using our Age Appropriate Grade Placement Chart.  

 

3. One our technicians will contact you with your Release Permit results. If granted, you will need to take the Release Permit to the school district of your choice to complete their permit process. 

 

 

 

 

Acceptable Proofs of Residency 

 

Electric, Gas, Water, Trash, Internet, Cable

Rental Agreement, Mortgage Statement,

Property Tax Statement

 

Incomplete applications will not be processed. 

According to AB 2444, an Assembly Bill passed in January 2011, students who currently have an approved Interdistrict Permit (from a district outside TUSD) will be permitted to continue attendance in the requested school without the need to re-apply to the district of residence to be released again. All existing Interdistrict Permits will be renewed unless we are otherwise notified by the parent or the school site not to renew for 2016-17.
